Creative Netwerk (formerly known as Everybody Dance Now!) is a national non-profit organization that uses hip hop culture and street dance programming as a tool to inspire youth. New to GUSD! Touch rugby is a fun, fast-paced afterschool sport where kids learn to pass, run, and work as a team in a safe, non-contact environment. Players build confidence, coordination, and teamwork while learning important values like respect, communication, and sportsmanship. With exciting games, ball handling activities, lots of movement, and new friendships, touch rugby keeps kids active, smiling, and excited to play.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!! Violin Club is an after school program to teach your child to play the violin! These classes are for kids with zero-to-intermediate musical experience, allowing them to learn about music and the violin while socializing with their peers. In addition to playing the instrument, your child will learn basic ear training and music theory through playing musical learning games/activities. At the end of the term, students will have the opportunity to sign up for an optional recital hosted at a local church, retirement home, or theater and get to perform.

Are your kids enjoying chess during alternative recess? Sign them up for ASE! We are devoted to promoting the merits of chess among children by using stories, dances, and catchy songs to make the game of chess exciting and easy to understand. All students in the chess club receive an exclusive Academic Chess workbook, prizes for good sportsmanship, and get to participate in the BIG TOURNAMENT on the last day, where all kids take home a prize! Returning and new students welcome! Depending on enrollment players may be broken up into groups based on age or experience.

Back by Popular Demand! Pickleball offers a great cardio workout plus benefits for coordination, reflexes, and social connection. Pickleball is a blend of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton. It’s played with a flat paddle, similar to an oversized ping-pong paddle. The ball is a lightweight, perforated plastic ball that’s slightly larger than a tennis ball (similar to a wiffle ball).

Back by popular demand! Kids Yoga with Greta is a fun, exploratory class geared towards creating feelings of relaxation and mindfulness. Using essential oils, instruments (including our voices!), and wild animal cards to express ourselves, we learn the basic principles of yoga: how to listen to our breath, focus our mind, and be kind to our bodies. We aim to be our best selves and acknowledge our individual uniqueness and beauty. We also notice how we are similar, creating empathy for each other by sharing our stories and focusing on gratitude. Are you interested in exposing your son or daughter to a new sport they can enjoy their entire life? Look no further! Classes cover proper grips, tennis-ground strokes, volleys and serves along with game rules and strategy. Students remain engaged and energized moving through drills and games created to provide repetitive practice of the skills demonstrated. A portable net will be set up on a designated blacktop area. Classes will be taught by Peter Gerstenfeld (USPTA Certified Teaching Professional and the Founder and Director of GVTA established 1989) and/or an assistant tennis instructor.

Welcome to Secret Agent Academy! This is a STE(A)M-focused after school class with a spy-themed curriculum. The class will include a range of hands-on activities and challenges that will encourage students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They will learn about the science of encryption and code-breaking, as well as the psychology of distraction and memory. Students will also explore the world of forensic science, analyzing fingerprints, chemical reactions, and other evidence to solve mysteries. Led by experienced instructors, students will work collaboratively and have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a final mission. The class aims to excite and inspire students about STE(A)M and encourage further studies in science and technology.
